PART 02Biography

Biography in English

Youssef Fahmi Idrissi is a songwriter, composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and music producer. He divides his time between Marrakech, his hometown, and Paris. Attentive to life’s smallest details, he finds inspiration in everyday moments: a glance, a facial expression, a feeling that is hard to put into words. These moments inspire both his music and his photography. A member of SACEM (the French Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers), he draws on his observations to shape his lyrics and compositions, creating a personal artistic world where his Moroccan roots, his life in France and cultures from around the world come together.

He began his musical journey in Marrakech at the age of 14, with a guitar in his hands.

A passionate traveller, he spent more than twenty years living abroad, travelling extensively across Europe and beyond, from Geneva to Cairo, from Italy to the Gulf. Egypt marked his first major step onto the international stage, where he sang and performed for nearly three years, also singing in Italian and Spanish. He later moved to Switzerland, where he spent the longest period of his life abroad. After studying business in France, he founded Night Sound Production, his own event production company, through which he worked in Switzerland. In Geneva, he performed, taught music and organized international events, including events for luxury watchmaker Franck Muller. In 2010, he co-organized the Geneva World Peace Festival outside the United Nations headquarters and organized a private celebration honouring France’s 1998 World Cup-winning football team, attended by Zinedine Zidane. Through Night Sound Production, in collaboration with Elam Jay, he also helped organize the opening of Morocco Mall in Casablanca, attended by Jennifer Lopez and numerous other personalities.

Together with Ahmed, he formed the musical group Azzar, which attracted attention from the Moroccan press in 2010. Their songs include “Wow Bladi”, featuring Houda Saad; “Lwaldin”, a tribute to parents’ love and sacrifices, encouraging people to honour their parents and never abandon them; and “Lalla”, the soundtrack to the film “Abou Amal”, which he arranged into a symphonic version with several classical musicians and recorded in Lausanne. He appeared as a guest on Studio 2M, Ajial and Comedia, while his music has been featured on Hit Radio, Radio Aswat, Radio 2M, SNRT Radio and other stations. He also played a police inspector in the Egyptian film “Rehlat Youssef”. His passion for photography has given him a particular sensitivity to visual storytelling throughout his artistic work.

Upon returning to Morocco, he founded News TV Music, his record label and production company, as well as YooStood Studio in Marrakech. He also established News Café, a modern café-restaurant with around 40,000 followers across Instagram and Facebook, which became a meeting place for artists in Marrakech. He writes, composes, arranges and produces music in Moroccan Darija, Amazigh, Arabic and several other languages.

His songs mark some of the year’s most important celebrations. “Ramadan Ya Habib” has surpassed one million views on both Instagram and YouTube. “Malikna Lhabib”, celebrating the King’s birthday, and “Asgas Ambarki”, marking the Amazigh New Year, are shared by audiences on social media every year. “Nachid Al Watani Maroc” presents the Moroccan national anthem in a symphonic and operatic arrangement. “Golo Bravo” pays tribute to everyone who serves Morocco, from public figures to those working behind the scenes.

In 2025, he released “Wana Maghribi”, a song celebrating Moroccans’ pride in their homeland, wherever they may live, as well as their values and generosity. One of his best-known songs, its music video was featured during 2M’s evening news broadcast for Throne Day and has surpassed two million views on YouTube and 3.7 million on Instagram. The video features more than 40 participants, including Bakho, Fofana, Tasnim Cheham, Mehdi Rabeh, Adil Nakach, Mohamed Chbani and Yasser Kazzouz.

He also wrote, composed and performed “One Africa”, a song celebrating the Africa Cup of Nations, bringing together artists he personally invited: Chico, founder of the Gipsy Kings, alongside his group The Gypsies; Bachir Abdou, Fatima Tabaamrant, Hasna Maghribia, Barbara Okia, Omar Lotfi, Nisrine Bouguida and Abdou Malek. The music video, featuring Jonathan Koula Kassaba, is forthcoming.

In 2026, he released “48 Nations – World Cup 2026”, a song inspired by two significant moments in football history. The first dates back to World War I, in 1914, when soldiers on opposing sides briefly stopped fighting at Christmas, and some played football together, sharing a moment of humanity amid the war. The second draws on the vision of Jules Rimet, the driving force behind the creation of the FIFA World Cup, who believed football could bring nations together despite their differences. Inspired by these two moments, the song carries a message of peace, connection and unity among peoples.

On 2 October 2026, he released “Aïd Al Wahda”, a tribute to national unity, marking the 31 October national holiday.

Biography in Arabic

Jonathan Koula Kassaba.
